Question : PARTICIPATION OF PRIVATE SECTOR IN FOOD STORAGE



(a) whether the private sector agencies are interested in investing in food storage, handling and transportation and are demanding for 100% space utilisation guarantee;

(b) if so, the details thereof alongwith the other demands made by the private agencies in this regard;

(c) whether any final decision has been taken by the Union Government on each of these demands; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b): Yes Sir, private sector agencies have expressed their interest in investing in bulk grain storage, handling and transportation facilities. No specific demand has been made by private agencies, however, National policy on handling, storage and transportation of foodgrains announced by the Government envisages various incentives including guaranteed capacity utilization for 20 years i.e. 100% capacity utilisation for first ten years and 75% utilisation for next ten years.
