Question : AMRUT

Will the Minister of URBAN DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:


(a) the names of cities selected under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT);

(b) whether the Government has recently changed the cost sharing formula for AMRUT;

(c) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor along with the likely impact of the said changes on the progress of the projects under AMRUT;

(d) the details of projects undertaken under AMRUT so far, project, city and State-wise;

(e) whether the Government has received complaints from various quarters including from Members of Parliament for ignoring their cities under AMRUT; and

(f) if so, the details thereof, State-wise along with the action taken/being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a): The names of 497 cities that are covered under AMRUT have been posted on the website of the Mission (amrut.gov.in).
(b): No, Madam.
(c): Does not arise.
(d): Under the provisions of the Mission, the Ministry of Urban Development does not grant project-wise approvals and approves the State Annual Action Plans, only. Project-wise approvals are granted by the concerned State / Union Territory Governments. The details of the projects selected by the States/Union Territories as approved in the State Annual Action Plans are available on the website of the Mission (amrut.gov.in).

(e)&(f): The Central Government has received several references for inclusion of cities under the Mission from several sources, including Members of Parliament. The Ministry has constituted a Committee to examine the suggestions and requests. Based on the report of the Committee the Ministry of Urban Development has decided to include 15 cities that fulfill the criteria specified in the Mission Guidelines. The list is available on the website of the Mission (amrut.gov.in).
