(a) Yes, Sir. Working Women Hostel is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme implemented by States with funding ratio 60:15:25 shared amongst Central Government, State/UT and the implementing agency (for North-East and Himalayan States, the ratio is 65:10:25). The Scheme aims to provide safe and affordable accommodation to working women with Day Care facility for the children of inmates. Working women who may be single, widowed, divorced, separated or married, but whose husbands or immediate family do not reside in the same area and for those women who are under training for job are eligible under the scheme.
(b) A total of 971 hostels have been sanctioned since the inception of the Scheme. On the basis of reports received from States/UTs, 497 hostels are found to be operational in the country. State/UT-wise list of hostels is given below:
