Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING & URBAN POVERTY ALLEVIATION
(RAO INDERJIT SINGH)

(a) to (e): Under the earlier schemes of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY), Government of India has extended central assistance to States/UTs for providing housing to urban poor. Government has also launched ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Housing for All (Urban)’ Mission on 25.06.2015 to provide central assistance to States/UTs for addressing housing requirement of all eligible urban poor.

Housing being a State subject, it is for the States/UTs to set targets and determine shortfalls, if any. In Budget Estimates for the FY 2016-17, Rs. 4875 crore has been earmarked for PMAY(U) mission.

The details of residential units constructed for urban poor, under progress and occupied in last three years and the current financial year under JNNURM, RAY & PMAY (U) is at Annexure.
