Question : Production of Crude Oil and Natural Gas

(a) whether the domestic production of crude oil and natural gas has been increased in the country during the last five years and if so, the details thereof along with the rate of success achieved in enhancing self-reliance in production of these products, year-wise;
(b) the quantum of additional fund invested in this regard during the said period;
(c) whether it is true that Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has planned to double its gas production in the next 4-5 years and if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard; and
(d) the details of total investment and source of investment required to achieve the said targets?

(b) During last five years, i.e. from 2014-15 to 2018-19, Oil India Limited (OIL) has invested ?15,927.03 crore, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has invested ?119,535.48 crore in their nomination fields and $5,528 Million (provisional) has been invested in fields under Production Sharing Contract regime.
(c) & (d) The gas production in Million Metric Standard Cubic Meters (MMSCM)) from ONGC for the year 2018-19 (Actual), 2019-20 (BE target) and Projections till 2022-23 are as under:-

ONGC is undertaking various steps to increase the production of natural gas including redevelopment of existing matured fields and development of new fields/marginal fields. ONGC is giving major thrust to develop discoveries made in the Krishna Godavari basin in Eastern offshore including NELP Block KG-DWN-98/2. Integrated Development of G-1 & GS-15 fields and integrated development of Vashishta-S1 have been completed and put on production. In addition, ONGC is also developing Coal Bed Methane (CBM) Blocks. ONGC has planned to invest (CAPEX) ?160,141 crore for the next five years to achieve the targets. ONGC makes investments from various sources including internal accruals, short and long term loans.
