Question : Sea Erosion

(a) whether certain States including Kerala have requested for technical and financial assistance for prevention of sea erosion during the current plan period;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the action taken by the Government thereon along with the details of assistance thus provided, State-wise?

(a) to (c) A total of 7 proposals for anti-sea erosion works were received in Central Water Commission (CWC) during XII Plan for techno-economic appraisal and financial assistance under Flood Management Programme (FMP). The State/UTs wise details are given below:

Central Water Commission (CWC) had undertaken detailed techno-economic appraisal and sent its advice to the concerned States/UTs for improvement in the related project reports. The States/UTs had not submitted the proposals to the Ministry for release of funds.
Under Sustainable Coastal Protection and Management Project – Tranche-1, two projects namely Ullal Coastal Erosion & Inlet Improvement Project in Karnataka and Mirya Bay Coastal Erosion and Protection Project in Maharashtra have been undertaken with a loan from ADB, having financing plan as under.
