Question : INCREASE IN MINIMUM WAGES



(a) whether the Government proposes to increase minimum wages;

(b) if so, the extent thereof; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c): Under the provisions of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 both Central and State Governments are the appropriate governments to fix and revise the minimum wages in scheduled employments under their respective jurisdictions. Accordingly, the minimum wages are revised by these Governments from time to time.
