(a) the number of Anganwadi Centres that are growing healthy organic vegetables in their own kitchen-gardens in India; and
(b) whether the Government has proposed any plan to implement kitchen-garden initiative for State-wide replication in Anganwadis?

(a) Based on the information furnished by all the States/UTs except West Bengal, total number of Anganwadi Centres with kitchen gardens are 1,61,250.
(b) At present there is no separate proposal to implement the kitchen-garden initiative by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Under the Innovation component of POSHAN Abhiyaan, one of the suggested items is Nutri Gardens. Kitchen/Nutri- Gardens are implemented under the Innovation component of POSHAN Abhiyaan and from other schemes of the States. States/UTs are at their liberty to choose any activity under Innovation component of POSHAN Abhiyaan as per the scheme guidelines.
