(a) the details of Nation-wide strikes resorted to by transporters during the last three years;
(b) the demands raised by them;
(c) the estimated loss to economy as a result thereof; and
(d) the action taken by the Government to meet the genuine demands of the transporters?

(a): Transporters resorted to Nation-wide strike spearheaded by All India Motor Transport Congress from 21st October 1999 to 27th October,1999 during the stated period.
(b) Transporters demanded that the hike in diesel price w.e.f. 5th October, 1999 be rolled back.
(c) Loss to the economy can not be quantified.
(d) The Government made it clear that the hike in the price of diesel could not be rolled back.
