Question : Funds under POCSO Act


(a) whether the Central Government has released funds to State Governments to establish special courts in each judicial district for offences under POCSO Act;
(b) if so, the details of funds released and utilized, so far since the enactment of POCSO Act, State/UT-wise; and
(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c) In pursuance to the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2018, the Government has finalized a scheme for setting up of a total of 1023 Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) across the country for expeditious trial and disposal of pending cases pertaining to rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, in a time-bound manner under Centrally Sponsored Scheme.

Till date an amount of Rs.99.43 crore has been released to 27 States/UTs (Nagaland, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Odisha, Telangana, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Gujarat, Chattisgarh, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh Administration, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Goa) for setting up of 649 FTSCs including 363 exclusive POCSO courts.
