to the reply to Unstarred Question No.838 given on July 27, 2001 regarding corruption in New India Assurance company limited and State:
(a) the details of official of DO-31090 named in the investigation report;
(b) whether the report of the Central Vigilance Commission so referred by the Ministry has been received; and
(c) if so, the details thereof and action taken or being taken against the officials found guilty in this regard?
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (SHRI BALASAHEB VIKHE PATIL)
(a): The Investigation Report of the Vigilance Department of the New India Assurance Company has named officials of the level of Administrative Officer and Assistant of the company alleging irregularities in the settlement of claims.
(b) & (c): The Central Vigilance Commission has advised initiation of Penalty proceedings against the officials. Accordingly, disciplinary proceedings are being initiated by the Vigilance Department of the Insurance Company.
