Question : EXPORT OF ISABGUL

(a) whether 40% of Isabgul is produced in North Gujarat are being exported to USA and Japan;

(b) whether there is no agro-based industries in North Gujarat;

(c) whether the above product is converted into Laxitive Medicine in foreign countries; and

(d) if so, whether the Union Government propose to set up industrial units based on Isabgul in the country particularly in North Gujarat?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): There are around 32 agro-based industrial units producing Isabgul in North Gujarat.

(c): Yes, Sir. It is used as bulk forming laxative medicine in India and abroad.

(d): No Sir, in view of (b) above.
