(a): National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) is providing financial and technical support to the States for implementing projects on diverse set of interventions like pollution abatement activities including sewage, industrial effluent, Solid Waste etc., River Front Management, Aviral Dhara, Rural Sanitation, Afforestation, Biodiversity Conservation, Wetland Conservation, Public Participation etc. for cleaning and rejuvenation of river Ganga. These projects are implemented by State Executing Agencies which helps to generate local employment in the States, however, the employment data are not collated and kept at NMCG.
(b): A total of 472 villages have been taken up for development under the Ganga Gram Project in the State of Bihar.
(c): The Government of India releases funds to National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) for the implementation of the program. Thereafter, funds are released by NMCG to State Governments /State Programme Management Groups/CPSUs/ Other Executing Agencies. The details of funds allocated and funds released under the Namami Gange Programme till date, year and State-wise are annexed at Annexure.
(d): Under the Namami Ganga Programme, NMCG have been providing funds since the year 2016-17 to the Ganga bank State Forest Departments of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal for afforestation works along the river Ganga as per the DPR prepared by Forest Research Institute (FRI) Dehradun.
So far, 1,63,25,296 number of plants have been planted over 29,326 hectares area under the Namami Gange program for which an expenditure of Rs. 313.90 crore has been incurred by the respective State Forest Departments. The State wise details of plantation is as follows:
