(a): The state wise number of Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) like IITs, NITs, IIITs and All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) approved public and private colleges functioning in the country is at Annexure-I.
(b) &(c): Five new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in the States of Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir and Chhattisgarh and one new NIT in Andhra Pradesh are proposed to be established as per the 2014-15 Budget. 15 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) in the states of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Maharashtra, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Manipur and Tripura are being established and 5 are already established out of 20 new IIITs approved in the PPP mode.
(d) to (e): The Government has received proposal for setting up of IITs in the State of Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. A proposal for establishing one National Institute of Technology (NIT) has also been received from the State of Andhra Pradesh as per the State re-organisation Act. Also a proposal for establishment of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research has been received from Uttar Pradesh Government. Apart from this, the AICTE grants approval for establishment of new engineering colleges in various parts of the country subject to fulfilment of the norms and standards prescribed by it. A list of AICTE approved Diploma and Under Graduate level engineering colleges established in the country, including in the State of Madhya Pradesh, during 2014-15 is at Annexure-II.
