(a) whether the Government has prepared any compendium/calendar on skill development programmes (SDP) proposed to be organised, State-wise during 2015-16 for the knowledge of the interested persons to undergo training on different themes of skill development of her/his choice;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the details of major themes identified by the Government under skill development programme?
(a) to (c) There are over 70 skill development schemes across various sectors implemented by over 20 Central Ministries/Departments for skill development of people in the Country.
National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) is working on a central registry of all training centers in the Country which will be accessible to interested persons and provide information on types of training opportunities in a particular area.
The skill development programmes are being run across varied sectors of the economy. Altogether 39 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) have been formed which are industry led bodies and responsible for ascertaining needs of the respective sector and finalizing the standards for skilling in consultation with the industry. Out of 39 approved SSCs, 30 are operational.
