Question : Amendment in Adoption Law


(a) whether the Government proposes to amend laws related to adoption;
(b) if so, the time by which the guidelines in this regard are likely to be issued;
(c) whether the Government proposes to take steps to designate any agency or appoint any nodal officer at the local (district) level for effective implementation of the said laws; and
(d) if so, the time by which the said agency or the said officer is likely to be appointed?

(a) to (d) The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment bill, 2021, to empower District Magistrate including Additional District Magistrate for completing adoption process under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, inter Alia, has been passed in Lok Sabha on 24.03.2021. The standard instructions for issuance of subordinate legislation as prescribed by the Government shall be applicable for framing Adoption Regulations after passing of the bill by Parliament.
