(a) whether the Government is planning to initiate a comprehensive ‘Safe city’ plan for women in metropolitan cities of the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the list of cities selected in this regard;
(c) whether this will serve as robust emergency response system and provide police verified public transport; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d) To address the issues of women safety including in public spaces and public transport, Government of India has selected eight metropolitan cities namely, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Lucknow in the meeting of ‘Steering Committee’ held on 30th November, 2017 under the chairmanship of Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs.
