Question : Unemployed Youth under PMKVY in Odisha

(a) the number of unemployed youth in Odisha, specifically Bhubaneswar, who were provided skill development training every year under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) since its inception;

(b) the percentage of candidates across districts in Odisha who were offered placement after training;

(c) the percentage of candidates offered placements who were from aspirational districts of Odisha;

(d) the percentage of female candidates offered placements; and

(e) whether the Government has set any targets to provide employment to unemployed youth under various schemes and if so, details thereof?

Answer given by the minister

(a) Under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) (2016-20), 1.27 lakh candidates have been trained in the State of Odisha under Short Term Training (STT) courses. In addition 2.52 lakh candidates have been oriented under recognition of prior learning (RPL) component in the State. The year wise data is as follows:

(b) to (d) Under placement linked STT component of PMKVY (2016-20), out of 1.27 lakhs candidates trained, 0.99 lakh candidates were certified, of which 0.52 lakh candidates have been provided with the placement, which is around 52.52% of the certified candidates. Of the total placed candidates 21 percent i.e 11,306 candidates are from aspirational districts and 48 percent i.e 24,829 are female candidates.

(e) Various programs implemented by Government of India for skilling aim to enhance the employability of the youth to access employment opportunities. The PMKVY (2016-20) scheme envisaged to impart skill development training to 1 crore youth of the country and assist certified trained youth in placement.
