(a) Under the National Scheme of Liberation and Rehabilitation of Scavengers and
their dependents (NSLRS), the training of scavengers is arranged on the basis of
proposals received from the State Governments, in various trades, keeping in
view of the ability of the scavengers.
(b) 45,875 scavengers were trained under the NSLRS during the Ninth Five Year
Plan and Rs. 3394.75 lakhs have been spent for the purpose.
