Question : MULTI-STATE COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES



(a) the details of Multi-State cooperative societies in Delhi and their functions;

(b) whether some of the Chairmen of these societies are non-officials and some are serving Government officers;

(c) the reasons for having official and non-official Chairman on Board of Directors of these societies;

(d) whether the Government are aware that some of these societies have purchased brand new Santro cars for their official Chairman and have provided cellular and installed telephones at their residence;

(e) whether those official Chairman are grossly misutilising the cars for their private affairs and are making calls abroad (USA) from their residential telephones; and

(f) if so, whether there is any proposal to ask the Registrar to investigate into these misuses and to recover all the amount from them including the cost of the car?

(a): There are 40 Multi-State Cooperative Societies having their principal place of business in Delhi. Out of these, 13 societies are National Cooperative Societies. These societies are of various types and perform their functions as per provisions of their bye- laws.

(b): Yes, Sir.

(c): The Chairmen of these societies are elected/nominated as per provisions of their bye-laws.

(d) to (f): The information is being collected and same would be laid on the table of the House.
