(a) whether the Government of Karnataka has submitted a Memorandum to the
Centre to release Rs.350 crores to the State to take up relief operations in the drought
affected State; and
(b) if so, the amount sanctioned by the Centre for Karnataka for the said purpose?

(a): Yes, Sir.
(b): Central share of Calamity Relief Fund (CRF) for 2001-02 amounting to Rs.29.36
crore has so far been released to the State for immediate relief measures in the wake of
natural calamities including drought.
