(a) whether the farmers are forced to purchase certified and low quality seeds from market as a result of which they have to suffer losses afterwards;
(b) if so, whether the Government proposes to take concrete steps to make certified and high quality seeds available in the private market of the country including Gujarat; and
(c) if so, the time and the manner in which it is likely to be done and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): No Sir,There is sufficient quantity of certified and quality seed is available in the country and farmers are able to purchase them as per their requirement.
(b) &(c): The Government of India supplements the efforts of States/UTs in meeting their seed requirement through the Zonal Seeds Review Meetings and National Conference on Agriculture prior to each sowing season. Government of India also ask States/UTs to prepare Seed Rolling Plan to ensure the availability of seed to farmers in future. The details of requirement and availability of seed in the Country and Gujarat is given at Annexure-I.
