THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES(SHRI JAI PRAKASH NARAYAN YADAV)

(a) to (d) North Koel Reservoir Project was accepted by the Advisory Committee of Ministry of Water Resources subject to few observations. As the State Government has not complied these observations, the project has not been given investment approval. Central Loan Assistance (CLA) under Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP) is provided to such approved major and medium irrigation projects which are in an advanced stage of completion. North Koel Reservoir Project being an unapproved project is not eligible for CLA under AIBP. The project has incurred an expenditure of Rs.572.75 crore till date. The project envisages creation of irrigation potential of 105.90 thousand hectare spread over the districts of Palamu (in Jharkhand) Aurangabad and Gaya (in Bihar). The completion of the project is dependent upon adequate financial resources, settling of resettlement and rehabilitation and submergence issues.
