(a)the details of Consumer Price lindex of food articles in urban and rural areas during the current financial year, month wise;

(b)whether the Consumer Price Index of food articles remained higher during the said period; and

(c)ifso, the details thereof and the corrective steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c): According to the information furnished toy the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the Central Statistics Office (CSO) releases Consumer Price indices (CPU) on base 2010=1100 for Rural, Urban and Rural & Urban (Combined) every month with effect from January, 2011. The detaiils of Consumer Price Indices for Rurall, Urban and Rural & Urban (Combined) during the current financial year (2012-13) compiled by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) are given in Annexure-I. It may be seen that the CPI for the group `Food, beverages and tobacco` in respect of Rural, Urban and Rural & Urban (Combined) has increased from 117.2 in April, 2012 to 123.1 in July, 2012.

Taking corrective steps on the basis of increase in CPI does not come under the purview of the Ministry of Labour & Employment:.
