Question : Outbreaks of Disease Among Cattle

(a) whether the Government has taken note of outbreaks of disease among cattles;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the diseases observed in cattles over the last three years and if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Government has put in place any scheme which reimburse farmers for the expenses incurred by them in the course of caring for ailing cattles;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) whether any amount of funds is disbursed to farmers, if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Yes Sir, Government has taken note of outbreaks of disease among cattle. The major diseases observed in cattle, over the last three years, are FMD, Brucellosis, Hemorrhagic Septicemia (HS), Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). Vaccination against these diseases is covered under the Livestock Health and Disease Control programme.

(c) & (d): Animal Husbandry is a State subject and there is no central scheme which reimburses farmers for expenses incurred by them in the course of caring for ailing cattle.
(e): Question does not arise.
