Question : UNDER UTILISATION OF TRAINING COURSE



(a) whether the Government is aware of the under-utilisation of several courses in Industrial Training Institutes on vocational training due to lack of extensive and correct publicity for vocational education courses;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto; and

(c) the corrective measures taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c): Ministry of Labour and Employment has recently taken up a comprehensive review of all courses/trades run under Craftsmen Training Scheme, implemented through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).

Curricula of the large number of courses has been revised from August, 2014 session to align these with present industry needs and several obsolete courses have been notified for deletion from the session starting from August, 2015. These have been placed on the website for publicity.
