Question : SETTING UP OF LNG TERMINALS



(a) the details of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminals set up in the country along with their installed capacity and capacity utilisation in the country, during the last three years and the current year, company/Terminal/State/UT-wise;

(b) whether the Government proposes to open more LNG/re-gasification terminals in the country;

(c) if so, the details thereof along with the time by which the LNG terminals are likely to be set up, company/Terminal/State/UT-wise; and

(d) the details of natural gas in terms of quantity and value imported from various countries to meet the rising demand of natural gas in the country during the said period, country/company-wise?

(a): The details of the existing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminals along with their installed capacity and capacity utilization during the last three years and the current year are as under:

(b) & (c): Government has no direct role in setting up of LNG Terminals. Decision to set up LNG Terminals is taken by different entities based on their techno-commercial considerations.

(d) : Natural Gas is imported in the country in the form of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) by different public/private entities under Open General License keeping in view the demand of customers in various sectors.
