(a) & (b): The details of the pump-sets energized during each of the
last three years in Bihar are as under:-

(c): The fixation of programme targets and implementation of the
same for providing electricity for irrigation pumpsets in rural areas of
Bihar is determined by Bihar State Electricity Board/State Government.
The Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) provides loan assistance for
Rural Electrification Programme for the schemes sponsored by State
Electricity Boards/Power Utilities. Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB)
has not drawn any financial assistance from Rural Electrification
Corporation for energisation of irrigation pumpsets during the last three
years.
(d): Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has allocated a sum
of Rs. 90 crore as a loan to Bihar State Electricity Board for Rural
Electrification Programme including pumpset energisation during the
year 2000-2001. The actual disbursement of loan will depend on their
complying with the normal commercial terms that REC as a financial
institution stipulates in this regard.
