(a) whether the Government proposes to develop Vidyapatinagar Dham-the `Karmbhoomi` of famous Maithili poet Vidyapati in Samastipur district of Bihar as a national tourist spot;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken by the Government in this regard; and
(c) the time by which it is likely to be done?

(a) to (c): Development and promotion of tourism is primarily the responsibility of the State Governments/Union Territory Administrations.
Government of Bihar has informed that a project amounting to Rs.290.75 lakh has been sanctioned for development of the site in the year 2014-15. This project includes Development of Shiv Ganga Pond Toe-wall, construction of Yatri Niwas, Sand stone pathway, 4 Nos. of Ghats, boundary wall, landscaping, Excavation of pond etc.
The State Government has also informed that a project amounting to Rs.53.97 lakh was sanc- tioned for development and beautification of Birth place of famous poet Vidhyapati at Bisfi in Madhubani District. The project included construction of Public conveyances. Development of Ghat, Renovation of Library, landscaping etc. The project at Bisfi has been completed.
