Question : Susidy to Farmers of Odisha

(a) the number of good varieties of cows provided to the farmers of Odisha and the details of amount being spent for the purpose along with the ratio of subsidy thereon; and
(b) whether there is any proposal of the Government to enhance the subsidy ratio to attract more number of farmers?

(a) Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying has been implementing Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme under which one of the components is establishment of small dairy units with indigenous descript milch cows like Sahiwal, Red Sindhhi, Gir, Rathi etc./graded buffaloes/ crossbred cows of 2 to 10 animals. The scheme provides for 25% capital subsidy for General category beneficiaries and 33.33% capital subsidy for SC/ST category beneficiaries. As on 04.03.2020, 2537 dairy beneficiary units have been assisted in Odisha with the total subsidy amount of Rs.1078.62 lakh during the period from 2017-18 to 2019-20.
