(a) whether it is true that large number of applications were received by the Government from eligible lawyers/advocates to appoint them as Notary public in various States;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the time by which they will be appointed as Notary Public?

(a) to (c) A large number of applications for appointment as Notary Public have been received. The receiving of applications for appointment as Notary Public is an ongoing process and the interviews are conducted for appointment of Notaries as per the provisions of the Notaries Act, 1952 and Notaries Rules, 1956 framed there under from time to time and for different States. Since it is an ongoing process, no precise time-frame can be indicated.
