Question : LPG Network

(a) the number of such villages in Jharkhand where LPG has not reached so far and the reason therefor, district-wise;
(b) the time by which LPG would be made available in all villages of Jharkhand;
(c) whether the Government has set any target for the distribution/LPG connections in the country in the next three years and if so, the details thereof
(d) whether the Government proposes to expand the existing LPG network in the stiupulated timeframe including setting up LPG agencies at the panchayat level in order to provide LPG connection to every households and if so, the details thereof; and
(e) whether there is a mismatch between the demand and supply of LPG in the country and if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken in this regard, State/UT-wise?

As on 25.07.2018, there are more than 39.89 lakh consumers in the State of Jharkhand. District-wise details are at Annexure.
Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have reported that they release LPG connections on demand across the country including the State of Jharkhand. Further, the Government has launched Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to provide deposit-free LPG connections to 8 crore women belonging to the Below Poverty Line Households by 2019-20. So far, more than 17.89 lakh LPG connections have been released under PMUY in the State of Jharkhand.

Appointment of LPG distributorships is a continuous process and locations for setting up of LPG distributorships are identified based on sale potential that makes them commercially viable. Currently, there are 401 distributors in the State of Jharkhand and OMCs have further advertised for 312 locations to set up new LPG distributorships.
(e)
Assessment of requirement of LPG (domestic/commercial) in the country is made by the OMCs on the basis of growing LPG consumer base in the country. OMCs source LPG from various sources. The projected demand is monitored on a regular basis and necessary changes in the projections are made based on the prevailing sales trend, change in policies or any other factor which may influence the demand. Action is taken accordingly to meet any fluctuation in demand of LPG due to such factors.
