(a) whether cases of irregularity and corruption in the construction of houses for
providing basic housing facility to the urban poor in place of slums have come to the
notice of the Government;
(b) if so, the details thereof during the last three years; and
(c) the details of the action taken in this regard and the outcome thereof?

(a) to (c): Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation is implementing Basic Services
to the Urban Poor (BSUP) and Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP)
components of JawaharLal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) since 2005. Mission duration
was 7 years from 2005-06 upto 2011-12. Government has extended the Mission period for BSUP
and IHSDP components of JNNURM till 31st March, 2015 only for completion of the projects
sanctioned upto March, 2012 and no new proposal can be considered for approval.
Complaints received in connection with the implementation of the BSUP and IHSDP components of
JNNURM at various levels in the Ministry are sent to State Government / Union Territories
(UTs) for remedial action, as the execution and implementation of projects are undertaken by
the respective State Governments / UTs and their implementing agencies, primarily Urban Local
Bodies.
