Question : SUPPLY OF NAPHTHA BY RELIANCE INDUSTRIES



(a) whether Reliance Industries is illegally supplying the Naphtha for mixing with the petrol to all petrol pumps and making a net profit of Rs.7 to 8 crores per day;

(b) if so, the action initiated against the said company by the Government;

(c) the impact of such adulteration of petrol; and

(d) the steps taken to penalise the petrol pump owners involved in such adulteration?

(a) to (c) : Government have no specific information in this regard.

(d) : Oil Companies takes punitive action against dealers indulging in adulteration under the Marketing Discipline Guidelines and/ or in terms of Dealership Agreement. The State Governments are also empowered to take appropriate action against erring dealers under the Essential Commodities Act.
