(a) whether the first phase of Swayamsidha Scheme has been completed;
(b) if so, whether any study has been conducted by the Government to assess
its performance;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the Government proposes to launch second phase of the said
scheme; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) No, Sir. The Scheme comes to an end on 31st March, 2008.
(b)&(c) The Scheme of Swayamsidha was evaluated by an external agency in
2005-2006. The evaluation report indicates that the scheme has by and large
achieved its objectives of social, political & economic empowerment of women in
the project area.
(d)&(e) Yes, Sir. The Government proposes to launch the second phase of the
Swayamsidha Scheme from the next financial year with a country wide coverage
based on experience from similar schemes implemented by the Ministry.
