(a) to (b) & (d) Directorate General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has formulated following schemes for creating infrastructure and upgradation of ITIs across the country:
(i) Skill Development in 47 Districts Affected by Left Wing Extremism: The scheme inter-alia covers establishment of 47 new Industrial Training Institutes in 47 districts of 10 States affected by Left Wing Extremism. The details are at Annexure- I.
(ii) Enhancing Skill Development Infrastructure in NE States and Sikkim: The scheme envisages upgradation of 20 existing Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) by introducing three new trades in each ITI and Supplementing deficient infrastructure in 28 ITIs by supplementing obsolete tools and equipment for three trades, construction of boundary wall, construction of hostel in each ITI. The scheme also covers establishment of 22 new ITIs in 8 Northeastern States. The details are at Annexure- II.
(iii) The World Bank assisted Vocational Training Improvement Project (VTIP): The Vocational Training Improvement Project (VTIP), interalia, envisages upgradation of 400 ITIs. 34 State Governments/UTs including NE States are participating under the project. The State wise details of fund released may be seen at Annexure- III.
(iv) Upgradation of existing Government ITIs into Model ITIs: This scheme is centrally sponsored scheme wherein 26 Government ITIs have been covered for upgradation into Model ITIs in 25 States. The State wise details of fund released may be seen at Annexure- IV.
(c) No such deviation in the NCVT norms has been made.
(e) The procurement of tools and equipment are done by States/ UTs. No anomalies have been reported in purchase of equipment/ machinery by State / UT Governments.
