Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has been granting scholarships to students of socially backward section of the society;
(b)if so, whether children belonging to different castes studying in the same class get different amounts as scholarships, if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government proposes to rationalise all scholarships given to meritorious students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and minorities to award equal amount to students of the same class; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and the time by when the final decision is likely to be taken in this regard?

(a): This Ministry is providing scholarships to students of socially backward section of the society. The details of the scholarship schemes are given at Annexure.

(b) to (d): The merit-based scholarships for SC and ST students (e.g. Top Class Scholarship) are already largely similar; and there is no such scheme for OBCs and Minorities.
