(a) & (b) The exploration is a continuous process and evaluation of quantity of reserves of minerals is carried out on the basis of survey of minerals. A number of exploration agencies like GSI, MECL, State DGM’s, State/Central Underta- kings and private sector companies are engaged in the exploration of mineral deposits.
The Government of India allocates funds for exploration in the five year plans. These funds are released by the Government of India for the exploration of minerals (including gold) though schemes.
As per the available information, the exploration activities carried out by various agencies for Gold in the country during the years 2011 to 2012-13 is given in Annexure-I . Reserves of Gold as on 1.4.2010 (By Grades/States) is given in Annexure-II.
