(a) & (b): Drought Prone Areas Programme (DPAP) is being implemented in Madhya Pradesh on watershed basis with the objective of drought proofing and rejuvenating the natural resource base by taking activities of soil-moisture conservation, water resource development, afforestation, pasture development etc. Under DPAP specific allocation of funds to the programme States is not made. Ministry of Rural Development sanctions new projects, each of 500 hectares, as per the Guidelines for Watershed Development and funds are released to Zila Panchayats in installments over the project period of five years. The first installment of central funds is released with the sanction of new projects and the programme being demand driven, subsequent installments are released on receipt of specific proposals from the State Govt. / Zila Panchayat along with Utilization Certificate, Audited Statement of Accounts, Quarterly Progress Reports etc. While releasing the central funds, it is ensured Zila Panchayat has utilized more than 50% of the last installment of funds released to it. An amount of Rs. 154.96 Crore has been released to Madhya Pradesh during the last three years and till date under DPAP.
(c) A scheme, at an estimated cost of Rs.100 Crore has been proposed in the budget to repair, restore and renovate the water bodies that are directly, linked to agriculture. The nodal Ministry for release of grants under this scheme is Ministry of Water Resources.
