Question : LAND ACQUIRED BY ECL IN JHARKHAND



(a) the total area of land acquired by the Eastern Coal Fields Limited for its Rajmahal project in Jharkhand;

(b) whether any agreement has been made with the land holders;

(c) if so, the details thereof;

(d) the total number of employees in this project along with the persons provided jobs out of these so far; and

(e) the steps taken by the ECL to provide jobs to the remaining land losers?

(a) : As on 01.12.2000 a total of 885.85 hectares of land has been acquired for Rajmahal Project.

(b) & (c) : Yes, Sir. A Memorandum of Understanding has been reached between the land losers and their representatives in the presence of the District Administration, Godda as per details given below :

For employment against land of Bara Bhorai Mouza, a Memorandum of Understanding has been made with the representative of land owners in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Godda. Employment will be given against two acres of land as per the norms of the company.

(d) & (e) : Excluding 176 executive, 2412 persons are in the roll of the project, out of which 1128 are land losers (as on 01.12.2000). Negotiation is going on with the land owners and their representatives as per package deal.
