Question : FORESTRY AS A REGULAR SUBJECT AT SCHOOL LEVEL



(a) whether the Government have decided to introduce forestry as a regular subject at school level all over the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the steps taken to prepare uniform syllabus for the subject; and

(d) the time by which the forestry is likely to be introduced?

(a) to (d): Forestry, the protection and conservation of the environment and national resources is one of the major concerns in the National Policy on Education as also in the National Curriculum Framework for School Education released by the NCERT. It has been recommended that the issues relating to environment should be integrated in different subject and areas of learning at school level.
