Question : TOURISM PROJECTS IN KERALA



(a) the details of tourism projects sanctioned during the Tenth and the Eleventh Five Year Plan for Kerala;

(b) the details of such projects completed so far and the remaining projects yet to be completed; and

(c) the reasons for the delay in completion of the pending projects?

(a) & (b): The development and promotion of various tourism destinations & products and implementation of tourism projects is primarily the responsibility of the respective State Government/Union Territory (UT) Administration. The Ministry of Tourism, however, provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to various State Governments and Union Territory Administrations for tourism projects prioritized in consultation with them for each financial year, subject to availability of funds, inter-se-priority and adherence to scheme guidelines.

The details of tourism projects for which CFA has been sanctioned and released to the State Govt. of Kerala during the Tenth and Eleventh Five Year Plan along with their present status are given at the Annexure.

(c): The State Government of Kerala has informed that completion of projects get delayed due to reasons like sudden climate changes, limited months of the year favourable for construction work etc.
