Question : IMPACT OF LABOUR UNIONS ON INDUSTRIES



(a) wliether industrial unrest in the country is on the rise;

(b) if so, whether the Government has allso assessed the Impact of labour unions and (industrial unrest on the medium and small scale industries;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the steps taken by the Government to overcome the negative impact on performance and productivity of these units/industries?

(a): No, Madam. As per records maintained by Office of Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), there is no significant change in the number of strikes/lockouts in the last threes years.

(b) & (c): No such Assessment/Study undertaken by the Ministry of Labour & Employment.

(d): In the event of receipt of any Strike; notice in the Central Industrial Relations Machinery (CIRM) am immediate intervention iis made by inviting the parties for joint discussions and deliberate efforts are made to avert the proposed striilke/agitations so as ito arrive at an amicable settlement.
