Question : FUNDS ALLOCATED TO MORMUGAO PORT TRUST



(a) whether during the last five years, out of an approved outlay of Rs.169.20 crore, Mormugao Port Trust spent only 85.65 crore;

(b) if so, the main reasons therefor;

(c) whether this fund was allocated during the Ninth Plan period for implementing the projects;

(d) if so, the number of projects implemented during the Ninth Plan period and deferred for Tenth Plan and the main reasons therefor; and

(e) the steps taken or being taken by the Government to ensure that projects not implemented or deferred are executed without further delay?

(a) The aggregate of five approved Annual Plan outlays for Mormugao Port Trust during the 9th Plan period (1997-2002) was Rs.169.29 crore, against which the total expenditure during the said Plan period was Rs.104.52 crores.

(b) Shortfall in expenditure was mainly due to deferment/spilling over of certain schemes to 10th Plan period. Further, a few plan schemes were transferred to Non-Plan.

(c) Yes, Sir.

(d) A statement is enclosed.

(e) All projects of 9th Plan, which spilled over to 10th Plan, have been completed or are in the advance stage of completion. Schedules have been drawn up for implementation of these projects during the 10th Plan, which are under execution.
