Question : Prices of Drugs

Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:

(a) Whether an inter-ministerial committee has been set up by the Central Government to examine, price fixation of drugs and to evolve a National Drug Pricing Policy;

(b) If so, the details thereof indicating the timelines for presenting report(s) of the committee and framing the National Drug Pricing Policy; and

(c) The steps taken by the Government to improve the poor''s access to drugs?

(b): In view of reply to (a) above, does not arise.

(c): The Pharmaceutical Policy as amended from time to time envisages making available quality medicines at reasonable prices to the masses.
