(b) & (c): The Central Department of Tourism has formulated
the policy and guidelines for Eco-Tourism in India in the
year 1998. Central Financial Assistance is extended to Eco-
friendly tourism projects prioritised in consultation with
the State/Union Territory Governments. The following Eco-
friendly tourism projects were sanctioned:

5. Construction of Trekking Base Camp at 45.00 Kuldiha, Orissa.
6. Development of Environment Presentation 25.91 Scheme at Kufri, Himachal Pradesh.
7 Promotion of Eco-tourism Centre at Pichavaram, 50.00 Tamil Nadu.
State of West Bengal identified the Darjeeling Hills,
Dooars, the Western Forest Tracts in the Districts of
Purulia and Bankura and Slunderbans for eco tourism
activities.
