Question : Pre-Matric Scholarship for OBCs

(a) whether Pre-Matric scholarship is being provided to Other Backward Classes at present;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the names of the States where the said scheme is being implemented, State-wise;

(c) whether the benefit under the said scheme is also being provided to the students enrolled in private schools and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government proposes to introduce any other scheme to improve education particularly for the said section; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. The Ministry is implementing Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for providing financial assistance to OBC students. The said scheme is being implemented in following States and UTs:-
Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, Tripura, A&N Island, Chandigarh, D&N Haveli, Daman and Diu, Delhi and Puducherry.

(c): No, Sir.

(d) & (e): There is no proposal to introduce any additional scheme for education of OBC students.
