Question : TELEPHONE EXCHANGES IN UTTAR PRADESH

(a) the number of Telephone Exchanges installed in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh, specially in Aligarh during the Ninth Five Year Plan;

(b) whether a large number of telephones under these exchanges are not functioning;

(c) the steps taken by the Government to make them functional; and

(d) the details thereof?

(a) The number of Telephone Exchanges installed in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh and Aligarh during the Ninth Five Year Plan upto 30.11.2001 are 1224 and 6 respectively.

(b) No, Sir.

(c) & (d): Does not arise in view of (b) above.
