Question : Conservation of Fuel

(a) the details of initiatives adopted by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) in regard to the conservation of fuel in the country and if so, the details thereof and the achievements therefrom;
(b) the number of industrial units across the country which have reached their designated targets of energy consumption under the Cycle-1 of Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme, State/UT-wise;
(c) the number of industrial units added to the above list during the last year, State/ UT-wise; and
(d) whether all sectors in the industry are audited by PCRA under PAT scheme and if so, the details thereof along with the sectors added there recently?

(a) Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) adopts a number of initiatives for conservation of fuel in the country. Some of the initiatives adopted by PCRA are as under :-
(i) Agricultural Workshops,
(ii) Kisan Mela
(iii) Driving training programme
(iv) Transport workshop
(v) Model Project Depot
(vi) Workshops for housewives and youths
(vii)Oil & Gas Conservation Fortnight(OGCF)
(viii) Education Campaign
(ix) Research & Development (R&D)
(x) Standard & Labelling programme
(xi) Different activities in Industries Sector
The achievements of PCRA are as under:-
i. During 2015-16, PCRA conducted /participated in over 1000 Agricultural Workshops/Kisan Melas.
ii. During 2015-16, PCRA conducted 2096 Driving Training Programmes, 1440 Transport Workshops and studied 37 Model Project Depots. PCRA also conducted 1437 Domestic Workshops and 2230 Youth Programmes.
iii. PCRA sponsored more than 130 projects out of which about 124 R&D projects were completed in the last 15 years .
(b) The estimated numbers of industrial units across the country which have reached their designated targets of energy consumption under the cycle-I of Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme are 308. The State/UT- wise segregation of industrial units is at Annexure-I.
(c) Total 173 industrial units were added in the PAT scheme after notification in March 2016. State/UT-wise details of industrial units added in PAT scheme (PAT Cycle-II) are at Annexure-II.
(d) All sectors under PAT cycle-1 were not audited by PCRA. The designated consumers in the sectors of Thermal Power Plants, Textiles, Iron and Steel Sector and Chlor Alkali were audited by PCRA.
