Question : CONSTRUCTION OF GOA NATIONAL HIGHWAY WITH TARCOL



(a) whether the Government are aware that the roads in Goa on National Highways are constructed with tarcol hot mix by 3 c.m. thickness instead of 7 c.m. which is approved by Union Government;

(b) if so, whether any survey has been conducted to check the thickness of the roads in various States of the country;

(c) whether the Government have directed to all States to implement the Government direction in this regard;

(d) if not, the details thereof;

(e) whether any action has been taken against guilty officials and contractors for using less thickness in constructing the National Highways roads; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (f) The work of 50mm BM and 25mm SDBC in Goa is being carried out as per Ministry`s specifications as reported by Government of Goa. In all States the National Highway works are carried out as per Ministry`s specifications and any deviation from specifications is not acceptable. Quality control tests including verification of thickness is mandatory and checking is carried out at regular interval.
